Boot Sizing Insert Toe Cap Assembly NASA part #0104-82664-15 s/n 099 is Class III training hardware size 03 small-large for the left foot.
Used inside the EMU boot during training most likely in the Weightless Environmental Training Facility (WETF). The BSI was used to give more variability in foot sizing since the boot only came in three sizes. It was important that the foot didn’t move around inside for locking into a foot restraint. Unfortunately, for some astronauts it caused significant foot arch pain, and often they were removed. The BSI was provided to NASA by Hamilton Sustrand, the EMU contractor.
A JSC parts tag, and NASA pink storage bag is included. Condition is very good.
